You will be camping and hunting in prime elk area with open meadows and dark timber along with streams. The elk have a routine of feeding in specify areas during the night and early morning hours then head for their day time bedding areas. Many times that is where we ambush them by overlooking their travel corridors in the morning and evening. Mid day most hunting is spot and stalk because of the minimal elk movement at that time unless there is weather conditions that make them move all day. Horses are available upon request requiring some extra charges, and limited to availability. These are usually 2nd & 3rd season hunts because these licenses can be purchased over the counter upon arrivial. The archery, muzzleloader and along with 1st and 4th rifle season hunts are available but only if the hunter puts in a application by April 1st(Archery is unlimited over the counter).
These hunts are 5 days with lodging and your meals in camp on the mountain.
You will be packing back to the Camp on horseback so you will be in a secluded area with prime elk habitat. Hunting is usually on foot in location like saddles, draws and ridges that are pinch points for moving elk. With the coming of the snow the elk move more because of the additional search for food. The snow provides the proof of their travels and the patterning their travels for an ambush becomes easier. This area has been extremely successful to your guide for years because they take a limited number of hunters each year so that the elk still feel comfortable in the area. You will be camping at about 10,000 feet with hunting from 11,000 down to 9000 feet. You are not required to be a Charles atlas but the better your physical condition the better your odds of filling your tag become. Hunt ID: Co-Elk-Rifle-Alamosa-PO-Brian-Cabin Semi-guided.pdf Elk

DIY HUNT Great hunt area for the self-guided hunter, leave the meals and lodging to us.. This Outfitter is a native of Colorado, licensed, bonded and insured, and have been outfitting for over twenty years. Under Colorado law, outfitters cannot guarantee kills to clients, nor would we if we could. But what we can do is offer fair chase hunting in prime big game areas with low hunter pressures. On my hunts, you will see and do things very few people are privileged to enjoy.... that is, hunting private ground without the pressure of public hunters. The reason is we have 30,000 acres and only allow 6-8 hunters on the land per season. If you don’t want to see each other you won’t. Our horses are mountain-trained. They are even-tempered and sure-footed so any beginner can ride and enjoy it. Water is very limited and even more so in the earlier seasons when deer and elk don’t have access to snow for moisture. Since this is a working cattle ranch we have stock ponds in specific areas of the ranch which the cattle and the wild game must use for water. I can't control the weather or Lady Luck but I will be totally prepared for your hunt with good food, cooks, guides, horses and jeeps. We'll hunt from daylight to dark to help you secure your animal. A hunter's checklist, license applications, shipping/transportation instructions, and maps of the area will be sent to you by June. Colorado's deer/elk rifle seasons are currently set up into four different seasons running from mid-October to mid November. Our past record speaks for itself. We encourage potential clients to talk with our previous clients. That's your best guarantee. We sincerely care about your hunt and want you to be totally satisfied with us. We're like you, we don't mind paying for a service if we get that service. We appreciate your interest in our outfit and hope you decide to join us this season. My private ground hunt areas for deer and elk are GMU’s 21,22,31, and 10. These areas near Rifle, Colorado are known locally as the Piceance Basin. At one time this was the largest single deer migration point in the world. It is still the winter home of thousands upon thousands or deer and elk. This area large area is surrounded by 1000 foot cliffs that are covered with cedar, oak brush, aspen and some scattered pine. The "camp" is a 2800 square foot log lodge, with a modern kitchen, large bathroom, great room with wood stove and a sleeping cabin that will accommodate 20 people. We normally only hunt 6-8 people at a time, but will take larger groups if they are in one party. We try to keep our groups small to facilitate better service. The area is composed of many ridges, bluffs and canyons that are accessible by jeep, ATV, or horseback. Cedar, pinion pine and oak brush are the main cover. The head of the canyons have spruce and aspen trees that provide great bedding areas. Live water is not readily available here but that works to our advantage as it concentrates game coming to drink at the springs and water tanks. The archers and muzzleloaders are well aware of this concentrating effect. We have permanent "tree" stands at these locations to hunt out of which is a unheard of way to hunt elk and mule deer in the west but it is quite successful. This is the perfect beginning of a 2-3 hunter DIY hunt on 1320 acres of private land in GMU013 17 miles south of Hayden, Colorado. Pastures with fingers of cover are the roads that the deer and elk travel to get to the hayfields. The area supports local and migrating herds of deer and elk, There is a trick that quickly put elk down and the owner will show you how as he shows you the property and provides you a map of the property. There is an additional 160 acres to hunt that has an “As is”, A Frame cabin on it that is free to stay in although you might want to look it over before you stay their some repairs are needed. There is camping with a self-contained trailer, or camper, or tent if you bring one, the options are yours. It is close enough to Hayden or Craig to stay in town also if you would rather do that. The lodging is not a part of this package it just happens to be on the property. Northwest Colorado is famous for its large herds of elk and other big game such as mule deer and pronghorn antelope. All of our elk hunts and big game hunting is fair chase only (no high fences here). Our Colorado ranches are managed to provide you with superb big game hunting opportunities. Colorado is home to 300,000 elk the most of any state, with the next closest being under 100,000. The largest concentration of these elk is in Northwest Colorado, where we hunt. We will meet you the day before your hunt starts, show you the property, and help you plan your hunting strategies. By the way, we recommend 4-wheel drive vehicles; and ATVs are welcome. However, all vehicle travel is restricted to the two track roads, and the less driving the better to keep the animals on the property. We book up quickly because we have a very high hunter return rate, probably a good many due to our high success rate. This is some of the finest Mule Deer and Elk hunting in the state. With a high success rate on Mule deer our planning, managing and available herds show we know what we are doing. This is a $1300 hunt reduced to only $995 each if there are 3 hunters. If there are only 2 hunters the price remains at $1300 for each hunter. Hunt ID: CO-ElkMDeerAntelope-All-Craig-4mr-Bob.pdf Bull Elk-Cow Elk-Mule Deer-Antelope
*****DIY on a Private Ranch This is the best opportunity of success for a DIY hunt in Colorado. Good DIY property is difficult to find, usually it means over crowed public land or the poorest private land hunting on the ranch. Well this outfitter is different. This outfitter not only provides you with the whole ranch in prime Colorado big game area but does it on 5 different ranches in the area. Not only does he put you in elk, deer and antelope property but also when you do shoot the elk, he will help you get it out which depending where you shoot it can be over whelming in the timber and rugged elk country. His hunts are very successful one of the highest of any DIY private land I have ever seen which has a lot to do with the quality of the land you are hunting, and the limited number of hunter he allows on a ranch. This is the downfall; it books up extremely due to the high quality of hunting habitat. In addition his repeat clientele continue to book 60% of his hunts every year leaving only a few available each year. If comes down to who will get the hunting slot the date the deposit was received will be the winning hunter. Hunt ID: CO-ElkMDeerAntelope-Walden-BOO-Del.pdf Elk-Mule Deer-Antelope Bear

Semi-Guided or DIY Whitetail Deer Mule Deer Antelope This is a second Generation working cattle ranch that has provided lodging and hunting for 15 years. The mule deer and whitetail deer hunting is fantastic here through the beautiful Missouri River Valley. The owner is a bow hunter also and he knows what bow hunter need, like, and don’t like. Bow Hunting since 1987, he has taken 12 trophy bucks one scoring 188 inches. Whitetails run between 120 inches to 170 inches, with the mule deer making it up to the high 180’s. Our deer herds are managed and he wants you to go home with memories as well as with a fine deer. At this time we do not have rules for the minimum antlered deer you can shoot. We do encourage, however, waiting patiently for that mature buck. You will see mature deer in both species, but like any experienced hunter will tell you, patience is a virtue. With many trail cams on the property he usually knows what is where and the best way to take that buck home with you.
